Working iron in the Casentino Valley of Tuscany has been performed since the middle ages. Today it is perpetuated by the Caporali firm. Caporali was founded in 1885 when Lorenzo Caporali opened a small workshop in Santa Mama, Italy forging tools and utensils.
Their collection focuses on beds, but also includes an assortment of tables, chairs, armchairs, light fixtures and various other functional accessories for the home. Nowadays, the Caporali family handcrafts iron products that are known throughout Italy and Europe for their excellence and matchlessness. Their original designs are a perfect blend of old world and modern styles inspired by renaissance, liberty, and art deco, effortlessly complementing any decor from traditional to modern.
Their wrought iron or as they like to say “blown” iron is the result of continual research giving us in the present-day craftsmanship tradition of wrought iron. It is treated through methods handed down from generation to generation with well established trial and error workshop testing. It is created manually by age-old workmanship techniques and antique tools. It is distinguished by its unmistakable fire punch marks and is maintained by usage, lasting longer than time itself.
